Joe Paterno

Joe Paterno (December 21, 1926 – January 22, 2012) was the head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions football team from 1966 to 2011, compiling a 409-136-3 record and winning two national championships. He was the most winningest head coach in Division I college football history. In November 2011 he was fired after he was mentioned in a grand jury report related to the Jerry Sandusky child abuse case. He was not accused of any crime.

On January 22, 2012, Paterno died of lung cancer.
