John Calvin Fleming, Jr. (born July 5, 1951 in Meridian, Mississippi) currently serves as the Republican U.S. Representative from Louisiana's 4th congressional district, representing the cities of Minden (Fleming's city of residence), Shreveport, DeRidder, Bossier City, and Natchitoches. He was elected in 2008 by just 356 votes, the closest House race that year, when he defeated the Caddo Parish District Attorney Paul Carmouche, a Democrat.
Fleming, a physician and businessman, currently serves on the Armed Services Committee and Natural Resources Committee. He faces no Democrat opposition in the November 6 general election.
Fleming's predecessors in the Fourth District seat are Republican Jim McCrery and Democrats Buddy Roemer, Claude "Buddy" Leach, and Joe Waggonner.
