John Richard Ballard (October 9, 1939 – October 10, 2015), was a judge of both the municipal and state First Judicial District courts, dates of service unavailable, in his native Shreveport, Louisiana, USA.
He graduated from North Caddo High School in Vivian in northern Caddo Parish and Louisiana State University and the LSU Law Center, both in the capital city of Baton Rouge. After law school, he served for two years in the United States Army with a tour of duty in the Vietnam War.[1]
Ballard and his wife, the former Sue Willis, had one son, David Willis Ballard, and three grandchildren. He was long active in the Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport. He died the day after his 76th birthday at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.[1]
A former Democrat, he was a registered Republican at the time of his death.
