Joseph Haydn

Joseph "Papa" Haydn was a composer in the classical era. He is credited with virtually inventing the symphony format, having written almost a hundred of them. Mozart and Beethoven then refined this structure and, to some critics at least, mastered it and brought it to its greatest heights.
