The Kansas City Chiefs are a National Football League (NFL) team based in Kansas City, Missouri. They are members of the American Football Conference (AFC) West Division.

History and League Title Success

The team was a 1960 charter member of the American Football League as the Dallas Texans; despite being more successful on-field than the Dallas Cowboys (which were also founded in 1960) the Dallas area could not support two professional football franchises, and the Texans relocated to Kansas City in 1964.

The team was named as such as an homage to former Kansas City mayor H. Roe Bartle, who was nicknamed "The Chief" due to his position in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say (which is a secret society he and some local politicians founded), an organization affiliated with the Boy Scouts. The naming also fit other KC area teams, such as the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro League, the Kansas City Kings of the NBA (now the Sacramento Kings), and later the Kansas City Royals of MLB.

The Chiefs have played in four Super Bowls, winning two (Super Bowl IV in 1969 and Super Bowl LIV in 2019) and losing two (the inaugural game in 1966 and Super Bowl LV in 2020).

The Chiefs have the current-best offense seen in the NFL since the dominance of the Tom Brady, New England Patriots. With a young Offensive line, a great set of Offensive weapons; there has been a number of commentators reffering to their offence as 'The Legion of Zoom' (a call back to the Seattle Seahawks 'Legion of Boom') [2].

Controversy and Results

In the end of the 2019 season, then Running Back Kareem Hunt was seen in a scuffle with a 19-year-old Abigail Ottinger. During the two-minute clip that was published by 'TMZ', we see her get shoved then kicked once on the ground [3]. Kareem Hunt was then cut almost immediately the next day, during practice, once the 'TMZ' release went mainstream. The NFL then opened an investigation into the violence claim, though hit a brick wall when the Hotel they were at refused to turn over the footage and the Police station refused to review it [4]
