Karachi is the largest city and main port of Pakistan, located on the coast of the Arabian Sea. It is the capital of Sindh province and was capital of the newly formed state of Pakistan between 1947 and 1960 (when Islamabad became the capital). The Karachi conurbation has a population of around 12 million.
