Karl Barth ( born May 10 1886; died December 10 1968) was a Swiss theologian who is one of the most influential European Christian theologians of the 20th century within the Anglo-American Academy. He was taught 19th century German liberal theology by Wilhelm Herrmann. His rejection of German liberal theology led him to become an academic and author many books. These works became the backbone of the Christian neo-orthodoxy movement. His first work was titled The Epistle to the Romans published in 1918. He has influenced many other theologians and authors, including Wolfhart Pannenberg.
