Lake Tanganyika is an African Great Lake. It is long and narrow, being classified as the longest freshwater lake in the world (although the water tends to be brackish). At 4,710 feet deep, it is also the second deepest lake in the world. The lake serves as the boundary between Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), as well as a partial boundary between Burundi and the DRC, and a partial boundary between Tanzania and Zambia.[1]
