Laura Nyro (October 18, 1947 – April 8, 1997) was an American composer, lyricist, singer, and pianist.

Despite writing many hit songs for the likes of Blood Sweat and Tears, The 5th Dimension, Peter Paul and Mary and Three Dog Night, her greatest hit as a recording artist was a cover of "Up on the Roof". Her best song is arguably "Stoned Soul Picnic".

She was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
