The League to Enforce Peace (LEP) was a proposed competing global organization to the League of Nations, announced shortly after Lord James Bryce formed the Bryce Group which later changed its name to the League of Nations Union. The LEP was founded by the President of Harvard University, Abbott Lawrence Lowell and enjoyed the support of former President William Howard Taft.[1]

Lowell, a progressive republican, was an outspoken opponent of George Washington's Farewell Address, believing that its wisdom had become outmoded.PRES, LOWELL ANSWERS BORAH They did not believe in the goals of the League of Nations, but they did believe in an outline of a global government infrastructure.
