Liberal Party of Canada is a centre left, pro-busness party. There are also parties affliated with the Canadian federal liberal party in addition to autonomous parties active in the politics of the provinces of Canada.

Liberal Party This party evolved from the Whig Party in the United Kingdom. The majority of members went on to merge with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to form the Liberal Democrats in 1988. A minority of members maintained the Liberal Party name and formed a new party because they felt that the Liberal Democrats had lost the ideals of the original party.
