Lionel Messi is perhaps the greatest soccer player of his era, taking Argentina to its World Cup victory in 2022. Messi is considered the finest dribblers, and among the greatest passers and play-makers, of all-time. He is also known for never doing the fake diving that most other players feign in order to draw improper fouls. Messi is the only player to win the Golden Ball award twice for the World Cup.

He wears a tattoo on his arm of Jesus Christ suffering with a crown of thorns, and Messi frequently blesses himself with the Sign of the Cross and gestures to heaven after scoring a goal.

Messi is physically unimpressive, and yet has excelled despite being small of stature.

Messi is of Italian descent on both is father and mother's sides.
