Louis Armstrong

Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong (b. Aug. 4, 1901, New Orleans, LA, - d. July 6, 1971, New York, NY) was one of the foremost pioneers of early Jazz. He played the cornet with King Oliver in the early 1920s, before fronting bands of his own, eventually developing the art of Swing.
