MSNBC (stylized msnbc, short for Microsoft National Broadcasting Company, although the full form of the acronym is never used on-air) is a 24-hour liberal propaganda cable "news" channel and website aligned with the Democrat Party and actively promoting its fringe. Owned by Comcast, MSNBC is considered by many to be one of the most liberal cable news channels of all the mainstream media. For years, MSNBC trailed Fox News and CNN in the ratings. However, it began beating CNN after the ratings for that network began to freefall.[1] In 2014 CNN beat MSNBC.[2] MSNBC typically garners ratings that are just one-third those of the Fox News Channel. Some consider it to be the liberal counterpart to the conservative Fox News. In 2012, Microsoft fully divested itself from MSNBC resulting in the creation of NBC News and NBCnews.com.[3] It is possible Microsoft divested due to MSNBC's liberal hypocrisy since they opined that "we wanted to show different perspectives." The "Lean Forward" campaign MSNBC announced blatantly confirmed what was already assumed in that the network has a strong liberal bias. Sean Hannity refers to the network as "MSDNC".
MSNBC propagandists Lawrence O'Donnell (left) and Joe Scarborough (right) are seen here losing their cool. |
The Daily Caller observed that MSNBC "might be trying a little too hard to push" its agenda ("MSNBC duped: Network runs satirical fake news"), and that wasn't the first time.[4] MSNBC is pro-recession and job destruction.[5]
MSNBC is blatantly Communist. One of their anchors, Melissa Harris-Perry, was featured in an MSNBC promotional video explaining that children "belong to whole communities" instead of their parents.[6] The promo is part of the Marxist "Forward" (MSNBC refers to it as "Lean Forward") campaign that has been going on since the late 19th century.[7] MSNBC commentator and holocaust denier Michael McFaul praised Hitler to manufacture consent for NATO intervention into the Russia-Ukraine war.[8]
MSNBC adopted the slogan "lean forward" which appears onscreen, which proves that the network decided to stop hiding their blatant liberal and Communist bias from viewers.
In April 2022, after Jen Psaki was booted from the White House press briefing podium for lack of credibility, MSNBC promptly hired her.[9]

Who owns MSNBC
- See also: NBCUniversal and Comcast
The MSNBC channel was started in 1996 as a joint venture between Microsoft and NBC. On December 23, 2005, ending a partnership that had soured long before, Microsoft and NBC announced that they would dissolve their joint ownership of the cable news channel, with NBC taking control. NBC completed a deal to assume majority control of the channel, with an 82% stake.[11] The joint venture with Microsoft has come to an end.[12]
On January 28, 2011 Comcast, America's largest cable operator, purchased NBCUniversal, which includes MSNBC, from former parent company General Electric.[13][14][15] Comcast acquired a 51-percent stake in NBCUniversal, creating a $30-billion business that would include broadcast, cable networks, movie studios and theme parks.[16] Some liberals feared that Comcast might turn into a more conservative outlet, but this has not happened.[17][18] Some critics and supporters of Keith Olbermann blame Comcast for his firing from MSNBC. In addition, on July 2012, Microsoft also dropped MSNBC from its ownership, although it was still allowed to retain the name.[19][20]
Low ratings
The MSNBC network has perennially had very low ratings. In 2002, the network was regularly beaten in the ratings by CNN Headline News. The CEO of Microsoft once even admitted that he wouldn't have started MSNBC knowing what he knew later.[21] In June 2006, CNN co-founder Reese Schoenfeld told journalist Don Kaplan that "Everybody compares MSNBC to Fox and CNN - when its real competition is Headline News". Schoenfeld pointed out that the ratings for MSNBC and Headline News are roughly the same, about 300,000 viewers on average and that "by comparison, Fox and CNN regularly average three or four times as many viewers." Kaplan even joked that "the running joke in TV news is Fox and CNN are news channels with websites, but MSNBC is a website with a cable channel".[22]
Shock jock Don Imus's radio show Imus in the Morning was simulcast on MSNBC for over ten years. During this time, the program become well known for displaying offensive commentary. However, MSNBC continued to support the show. In April 2007, the network sparked outrage when during a broadcast of Imus in the Morning, Don Imus and another MSNBC staff member made remarks about the Rutgers University women's basketball team, considered to be both racist and sexist. Initially, MSNBC refused to cancel the show. After sponsors started withdrawing their advertisements from the show, MSNBC canceled the simulcast of Imus in the Morning.
During the national emergency over the Chinese COVID-19 pandemic, while thousands were being diagnosed and hundreds dying daily from the deadly disease, MSNBC refused to carry public information programming alerting the public to the danger with precautionary instructions on prevention and transmission of the deadly virus.[23] In so doing, MSNBC has also become a blatant and willing propaganda vector and apologist for the Chinese Communist Party in its COVID-19 coverage,[24] while one of its correspondents, liberal author Sarah Kendzior, put her TDS on public display by libeling the Trump administration and engaging in projection (by calling it a "crime cult", a descriptor actually more befitting of the Democrat Party based on its history) and by falsely accusing it of "...(wanting) people to die, and they want many more to die"[25] (which actually describes the behavior of various Democrat state governors and city mayors, particularly including New York governor Andrew Cuomo[26][27] and New York City mayor Bill de Blasio,[28][29] as well as the Democrats themselves, in their own mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic[30]).
Incitement to violence
MSNBC host Tiffany Cross used the MSNBC platform to foment violence during an interview with state Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) on January 22, 2022 when she told Democrats to “pick up a weapon and get involved” in the “war” for the survival of the country.[31]
Anti-Trump hate speech prior to assassination attempt
- See also: Assassination attempt on Trump
On November 1, 2023 Democrat-supported Lincoln Project[32] co-founder and board member Rick Wilson said on MSNBC: "The donor class can’t just sit back on the sidelines and say oh well, don’t worry, this will all work itself out...They’re still gonna have to go out and put a bullet in Donald Trump...That’s a fact".[33][34]
On Dec 19, 2023, Zeeshan Aleem wrote on MSNBC a piece titled: "Donald Trump has truly earned comparisons to Adolf Hitler".[35]
On July 2, 2024, eleven days before the Assassination attempt on President Donald Trump, Nancy Pelosi appeared on MSNBC with Andrea Mitchell:
ANDREA MITCHELL: At this point, there's no one who knows the donor community better than you. You are a legendary fundraiser. There's no one who knows the convention rules better than you. I have to ask you, what are you hearing from the large network of people about whether [Biden] is up to it?
NANCY PELOSI: I hear mixed. Some people are saying because Donald Trump is such an authoritarian and autocrat, we have to win this election. This is not a normal election where you want to win, if you don't, you cooperate and do the best you can for the country and hope to win the next time. This is something that is undermining our democracy.[36] He must be stopped. He cannot be president![37] |
Malcolm Nance
MSNBC propagandist Malcolm Nance joined the Ukrainian mercenary legion[38] along with Trump would be assassin Ryan Wesley Routh.[39][40] Americans who join mercenary groups commit a violation of both U.S. and international law. Mercenaries have no protection under the Geneva Convention, they kill for money, and can be executed on the spot when captured under international treaty arrangements.[41] Additionally, mercenaries who sign up with Ukraine's 'international legion' sign contracts 'for the duration of the conflict', meaning they can be executed by the government of Ukraine for desertion if they attempt to leave before capture or the end of the war. MSNBC took no precautions to inform the public of the risks and consequences of following the example of an MSNBC 'expert.'
Theories
In 2017, political contributor on MSNBC for five years, stated "The U.S. Was Founded on the Backbone of Racism."
“ | Saturday on MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” “DecodeDC” podcast host Jimmy Williams touched on Alabama Democratic Senate candidate Doug Jones’ prosecution of two of the men behind the 1963 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham as a U.S. attorney.
Williams claimed the United States was “founded on the backbone of racism.” [42] |

Bias
Publicly, the channel claims to be a non-biased, journalist driven news network. In reality, they are Democrat-aligned to the point that they were perceived as the press Secretary for the Obama Administration. On several occasions, Obama Administration officials have stated their public support for MSNBC.
Opinion-driven news is common and a successful formula at Fox News. MSNBC opinion news includes attacking Republicans relentlessly (and with no factual basis) and promoting or whitewashing Democrat politicians. Their remarks are so outlandish, choke-full of proven lies and mean spirited that their TV hosts often get suspended from the air.
MSNBC recently canceled some shows including the longtime Ed Show featuring Ed Schultz to favor "hard news" and "journalism" but it is a PR move as the network still features a heavy leftist slant.
When Democrat 2020 presidential election frontrunner Joe Biden cursed at and threatened a blue collar labor union member and traditional Democrat voter during the Michigan primary, MSNBC selectively edited out Biden's bullying and erratic behavior toward working class people.[43]
During the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, MSNBC was accused of jury tampering.[44]
MSNBC's Medhi Hasan said non-Muslims are "animals" with "diseased minds".[45]
In Feb/2022, as MSNBC's Yasmin Vossoughian (one of MSNBC's various pro-Islamist propagandists, like Mehdi Hassan and Ali Velshi) did a piece, the crew was heckled by Ottawa protestors [46]
DNC handmaid
MSNBC has been criticized regarding the channel's liberal slant. Its on-air performers often behave as cultists. Nicolle Wallace referred to herself as "a Fauci groupie."[47] The media watchdog group the Media Research Center[48] has cited MSNBC shows by Keith Olbermann, Dan Abrams and Chris Matthews in its criticism of the network's biased reporting. Among the network's daily lineup, liberals include Matthews, Rachel Maddow, Melissa Harris-Perry, Lawrence O'Donnell, and Chris Hayes. Joe Scarborough, a liberal-leaning RINO Republican who was a member of the United States House of Representatives from Florida, is purported to be the sole conservative voice with a show on the network. Having several liberals and one RINO is clearly not balanced.
Olbermann has denounced President Bush and the Republican Party, calling the latter a "terrorist organization". He has called on President Bush and Vice President Cheney to resign.[49] Olbermann has conducted post-debate interviews of Republican presidential candidates and led live coverage of presidential primaries. In the February 2008 issue of Men's Journal magazine, a senior executive at MSNBC stated that Olbermann "runs MSNBC" and that "because of his success, he's in charge" of the network.[50] Olbermann has since left the network and returned to sports journalism at ESPN
The left-wing advocacy group Media Matters for America[51] has criticized the MSNBC's commitment to promoting a left-wing agenda since the channel has had shows hosted by left-libertarian Tucker Carlson and former moderate Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough. Ironically, on August 16, 2007, Scarborough revealed an incident in which people in the MSNBC newsroom ceaselessly booed President Bush during a State of the Union address.[52]
In the past, MSNBC shows have featured Mitch Albom, Ann Coulter, Phil Donahue, Bill Moyers, Maury Povich, and Michael Savage, among others. That varied programming was gradually reduced as MSNBC veered more leftist in its point-of-view. Among MSNBC's 2008 lineup, Patrick Buchanan was perhaps the most conservative voice.
In 2003, in an apparent effort to appear more balanced, MSNBC fired talk-show host Phil Donahue. An internal memo read, in part, "Donahue represents a difficult public face for NBC in a time of war. At the same time, our competitors are waving the flag at every opportunity." [53] [54] [55]
On November 5, 2007, the New York Times reported that the cable news channel was in serious discussions with Rosie O'Donnell to have a prime-time show on the network. Under one scenario, O'Donnell would be given the 9 p.m. slot where she would compete with Larry King Live on CNN and Hannity & Colmes on the Fox News Channel. Her show would replace Live with Dan Abrams, a low-rated program that only recently replaced Scarborough Country.[56] The deal later fell through as O'Donnell leaked information about the agreement without MSNBC's permission.
Later in November 2007, the president of MSNBC, Phil Griffin, flat out admitted that the network has a left-wing liberal bias. In a New York Times article, he said that "it happened naturally" and that "there is a Go for it" mentality when it comes to pushing the liberal agenda among the MSNBC staff.[57]
Continuing its offensive against the Bush administration and its reposition as a left-wing "news" outlet, in December 2007, the network ran a series titled Bush League Justice with the explicit purpose of attacking the U.S. Justice Department under the presidency of George W. Bush.
In October 2010, MSNBC has publicly acknowledged its liberalism in October 2010 while launching a marketing campaign with the tagline "Lean Forward," [58][59][60][61] following several years in which many observers noted a leftward shift in the channel's programming.[62][63][64] As a result, NBC Universal and Microsoft is considering changing the name of the less partisan msnbc.com, a separate news company, to prevent confusion with the liberal TV network, MSNBC.[65] Some of the NBC News correspondents and producers, who attempt to be straightforward reporters, say they are embarrassed to be associated with the liberal cable outlet and fear being “tainted” by association with it.[66] The situation became more apparent when NBC News decided to keep Brian Williams and Tom Brokaw away from MSNBC during the November 2, 2010 midterm election coverage.[67]
In July 2013, former MSNBC senior producer Jeff Cohen attacked MSNBC for being what he called the “official network of the Obama White House.” [68]
MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace accused President Donald Trump of "talking about exterminating Latinos" during a Monday episode of Deadline: White House.[69]
MSNBC invited Democrat presidential hopeful and convicted felon Michael Avenatti for interviews 108 times.[70] Avanati was sentenced to 5 years and 14 years in two separate trials for defrauding clients of millions of dollars.
The MSNBC – White House connection
During coverage of the Gulf Oil Spill, Democrat party apparatchik Mika Brzezinski, who is also an anchor of the MSNBC show Morning Joe, worked with the White House to distribute propaganda falsely claiming that Obama was doing an effective job managing the problem. Brzezinski, who is the daughter of NSA Zbigniew Brzezinski from the failed Carter administration, admitted on the air that "I have a file that I've been working on with the White House."[71]
The MSNBC – Media Matters connection
Media Matters for America is a very popular source of information within MSNBC's prime time lineup. Some might argue MSNBC is a de facto mouthpiece for the organization.[72] In primetime alone, since 2005 Media Matters has either been booked as a guest and/or mentioned on the network nearly 200 times. Media Matters has been particularly popular with MSNBC's producers during the last 2 years. Below are some interesting tid bits about Media Matters and its growing relationship with MSNBC's prime time programming:
- 197 guest appearances and/or on-air mentions on MSNBC's prime time since January 2005
- Of the roughly 390 broadcast evenings on MSNBC since July 2010, Media Matters has either been booked as a guest and/or mentioned on-air 26% of the possible broadcast evenings (1 out of every 4 days).
- In 2011, on average, a Media Matters representative appeared on MSNBC at least once per week
- Eric Boehlert has been the most popular Media Matters representative on MSNBC, accounting for 43% of all Media Matters appearances on the cable network
- The Ed Show is the most popular show for Media Matters representatives, accounting for 72 Media Matters guest appearances since 2009[73]
2020 fake news and election interference
In July 2020 MSNBC producer Ariana Pekary quit, calling the network fake news and a cancer that risks human lives, even in the middle of a pandemic. Pekary said President Trump became the primary focus of the coronavirus coverage instead of “science itself.” “As new details have become available about antibodies, a vaccine, or how COVID actually spreads, producers still want to focus on the politics. Important facts or studies get buried,” she wrote in her resignation letter.[74]
MSNBC aided Mayor Pete Buttigieg based on his white privilege when the racist reporting at MSNBC consistently snubbed Andrew Yang, an Asian American, to help Buttigieg surge in early 2020 presidential primary polling of Iowa.[75][76] During the pre-primary debates, MSNBC cut off Yang's microphone.[77]
Fake news
During the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, who was charged for defending himself against two white Black Lives Matter criminal rioters that assaulted him with deadly intent, Scarborough claimed Rittenhouse fired off 60 rounds.[78]
MSNBC called the Waukesha Christmas parade massacre an "accident", rather than a racially motivated domestic terror attack by a black nationalist and BLM supporter.[79]
Racism
MSNBC programmers and interviewers routinely insult conservative African Americans.[80][81] A commentator said in a review of MSNBC host Tiffany Cross attack on Sen' Tim Scott:
"What Tiffany Cross has done in this vile assault on Tim Scott – and notice I didn’t call it “verbal assault” because she’s put a target on him in the real world – what she has done is use MSNBC air time as to spew hatred. A familiar use for the network, sure, but here even more blatant and with total disregard for any responsibility or integrity or sense.
It is utterly unethical. It is gross and putrid. It is another example of the depths that our society has sunk to, so deep we wonder if ever we can rise to the surface again. And yes, it’s a racist rant, in a hundred ways."[82] |
In November 2022 the network took the unprecedented step of firing one of its racist anchors, Tiffany Cross.[83]
The media outlet has used racist dogwhistles to attack Florida Republican senator Marco Rubio.[84]
In Dec 2022, MSNBC's Ayman Mohyeldin exposed as justifying Arabs' Xenophobia. [85]
Racist Joy Reid
Noted:[86]Joy Reid is a racist sociopath. How else to explain her reaction to Kyle Rittenhouse breaking down in the witness box during his murder trial last week?“White crocodile tears,” said the hate-mongering MSNBC prime-time anchor.
Bigot: Mehdi Hassan
Mehdi Hassan is a devout Muslim, jihad apologetic and with a history of anti-Semitism.[87]
In 2004,[88] Mehdi Hasan rehashes the same tired old anti-Israel Christmas story in the New Statesman.
On Apr 10, 2021:[89]The host of MSNBC’s “The Mehdi Hasan Show” tweeted a libelous claim on Saturday about a supposed Israel Defense Forces sniper injuring a Palestinian boy.
This MSNBC's anchor has been described:[90]
Mehdi Hasan is a hate-filled far-Left MSNBC host who espouses fashionable Big Lies such as the claim that “white supremacy is now a key ideology of the Republican Party” and “the far-right domestic terror threat is more dangerous than even Al Qaeda after 9/11.” During the Whoopi Goldberg controversy, remarks that Hasan made in 2009 resurfaced, leading many to question why Hasan’s star has consistently risen in the Leftist media, despite his manifest hatred and contempt for non-Muslims. Hasan, a Shi’ite, said of the early Sunni caliph Yazid: “All of these ulama unanimously agree that at the very minimum if Yazid was not a Kaffir [unbeliever] — then at the very minimum he was a fasiq, a transgressor, a breaker of Islamic laws, a corrupt individual, a tyrant, a killer, a drunkard, a dog lover, a music lover, a homosexual, a pedophile, a sexual deviant, someone who slept with his own mother.”
After Mehdi Hasan, on MSNBC, used his rhetoric against the GOP and inserted, somehow, the words "neo nazis" ... Elon Musk replied: "NBC basically saying Republicans are Nazis …"[91] He slammed NBC over scandals after host Mehdi Hassan says he’ll hand Twitter ‘to the far right.[92]
Not surprisingly, Islamic bigot, Mehdi Hasan’s defended anti-Semitic hate speech at CUNY by an Islamist student Fatima Mohammed in 2023, via 'deceitful defense of an Antisemitic screed.'[93]
In the wake of fascistic "Palestinian" (Hamas / PIJ etc.) atrocities Oct/2023: massacres, beheading of babies, gunning down youths, mass rape while laughing, abducting women and children, the elderly, the disabled, parading them towards cheers of thousands of other racist Arabs in Gaza (which led to Swords of Iron), as a good Islamist, Mehdi Hassan blamed the victim.
“ | Mehdi Hasan worked for Qatar’s Al Jazeera propaganda channel as a host for years from London, spewing the talking points of Islamists. He arrived in the US with (CAIR) @CAIRNational support and now sits on MSNBC, blaming “you” — Israel — for the terrorism against her civilians.[94] | ” |
At the end of Nov 2023, MSNBC canceled Mehdi Hasan's show in major shakeup of its weekend lineup:
- The Islamist "far-left" host has criticized Israel's war on Hamas and his once (at the age of 30) compared non-Muslims to 'animals' and homosexuals to 'pedophiles' - resurfaced. (At the time of his "apology" which came a decade later, he still has been regularly speaking 'on platforms alongside Islamist clerics who incite hatred against minorities.'[95]).
- It comes after Hasan's strong on-air criticism of Israel provoked backlash online. (Formerly he propagated at 'Al Jazeera' and Glenn Greenwald's 'The intercept' - BDS and other stuff).
- In 2021, Hasan rushed to defend Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., who suggested the U.S. and Israel were just as guilty of "war crimes[sic]" as terrorist groups like Hamas and the Taliban.
- In April 2023, Mehdi Hasan lashed out after being fact-checked on twitter for his statements on racial crime stats.
- Ahead of the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, Mehdi Hasan spent time highlighting how the United States "helped produce that other 9/11," referring to a military coup in Chile 50 years ago.
- At Swords of Iron, on Nov 17, 2023, Mark Regev scolded Hasan for not informing viewers that Hamas controls the Gaza Health Ministry, which has been putting out statistics related to how many people have been killed. Mehdi Hasan refused to say that.
- In 2023, Mehdi Hassan was accused of plagiarizing a piece arguing in favor of parents spanking their children.[96]
Ali Velshi - spreading misinformation
In Sep 2023, on a Sunday morning Islamic Ali Velshi was weaving a narrative about an evil [sic. Supposedly] Jewish state, threading together outright lies and material omissions to spin his false tale of a brutal, undemocratic apartheid state. As is typical at MSNBC, the host’s guests on the subject included only those who largely align with him ideologically and on whom he could count to refrain from substantively challenging his blatant lies. Consequently, the network’s audience was once again left not just uninformed, but misinformed. Some of Velshi’s false claims were transparently malicious, like his description of the 2023 fatalities in Israel.[97]
Media watchdog in reviewing media reporting in 2023:[98] "Resident MSNBC dunce Ali Velshi, who can scarcely make it through a piece-to-camera these days without bandying about words and terminology he clearly doesn’t understand, such as “apartheid.” We say Ali doesn’t understand what apartheid is because why else would he use the word about Israel where all citizens — regardless of race, religion or sex — have equal rights.."
Erred "knowledge" on the Middle East
In 2015, MSNBC's showed its lack of basic knowledge, when it aired a silly propaganda "map" of a supposed ‘land loss’ for Arab-Palestinians. Obviously, it shows no such thing. Not to mention, the first ever "palestinian" Arab control in history was not before 1995. Reminder, in 1946, the land was still controlled by the British .[99]
Homophobia and Islamophobia
Joy Reid is a Leftwing conspiracy theorist and commentator for MSNBC. Reid has been cited for racist, homophobic, Islamophobic,[100] xenophobic and bigoted comments.[101][102]
Anti-Trump
- See also: Trump insurrection hoax
MSNBC columnist Dean Obeidalla wrote: “Trump must die in prison!"[103]
Obama appointee McFaul's tweet
In March 2022, at Russia-Ukraine war, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show removed tweet of guest's Hitler claim after Auschwitz Memorial proves it false. The inaccurate tweet was by Michael McFaul, Obama's appointed Ambassador to the Russian Federation. It claimed a Hitler comparison (besides the uniqueness of evil Hitler), falsely claiming Hitler didn't kill his own people, Germans.[104] It was pointed out that:[105] On a factual note: Hitler did kill ethnic Germans & German-speaking people: those who opposed the Nazi regime, those who resisted, those who did not fit into the 'Weltanschauung'. He ordered the murder of people with different disabilities & finally the murder of German Jewry.
Ridiculous
- Kamala Harris Poland visit at 2022 Russia-Ukraine war: while the only people Kamala Harris has managed to bully lately have been members of her own staff yet, an MSNBC "analyst" Tiffany Cross, propagated: "prosecutor Kamala 'put her finger in Putin's chest."[106]
- In March 2022, an MSNBC Op-Ed was roasted for claiming fitness is ‘central’ to fascism.[107][108] In fact, the Talmud is for witness, as prominent Talmudist Maimonides (1138-1204) urges to make exercise.[109] That one:
should work or exert himself in some other way. The rule is that he should engage his body and exert himself in a sweat-producing task each morning. Afterwards, he should rest slightly until he regains composure and [then, he should] eat. If he were to bathe in hot water after exerting himself, it would be beneficial. Afterwards, he should wait a short while and eat.
- On April 4, 2022, during an interview with failed New York City Mayoral candidate Maya Wiley, the MSNBC host made, yet another controversial statement, a bizarre comparison between Senate Republicans opposing Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson and past segregationists, the Dixiecrats.[110]
- In 2023, MSNBC claimed Ilhan Omar’s Antisemitism is the fault of "Right Wing Hatemongers."[111]
Constitution
On Mar 4, 2022:[112]
Frequent MSNBC radical Elie Mystal thinks the Constitution is "trash," and would rewrite it with "no state's rights."
It was on an appearance on ABC’s The View.[113]

No reasonable observer would ever accuse Mehdi Hasan of providing thoughtful, balanced, and insightful discussions on the newsworthy subjects of the day, especially when the subject has anything to do with Jews. On June 4th, that happened to be the antisemitic screed at the City University of New York School of Law’s commencement ceremony, in which the speaker, Fatima Mohammed, called on her audience to use their rage to “fight against…Zionism around the world” and railed against “investors.” The speech was widely criticized and condemned by Jewish groups, university officials, and political leaders. Once again upholding his reputation, the MSNBC host rode to Mohammed’s defense. The result was nine minutes of Hasan and his guests enthusiastically embracing willful blindness, legal nonsense, and material omissions.

Hasan has also appeared to despair over Muslims "losing battles" against the Jews, whom, he warned, had "out-thought" Muslims.
Welcomingly, in 2019, Hasan apologized his past comments. Although he must have been around 30 years old when he expressed his hatred for non-Muslims, atheists and homosexuals, he attributed his bile to the folly of youth.
He perhaps elicits less sympathy upon accompanying his apology with a complaint that his previous hatreds have been used to "smear" him as an "extremist." Well, indeed.
And yet Hasan's behavior since his "apology" does not fit the pattern of a man who has left his extremism behind. He continues to regularly speak on platforms alongside Islamist clerics who incite hatred against minorities.
Hasan's behavior does not fit the pattern of a man who has left his extremism behind.
Last November, for example, Hasan was happy to share a stage with Dawud Walid, who preaches about the evils[sic] of Jews. A few months earlier, Hasan moderated a debate at a conference with Hatem Bazian, who has complained about Jews in "control" of universities and was censured by his employer for tweeting anti-Semitic cartoons.
The conference, hosted by the Islamic Society of North America, also featured dozens of the most extreme clerics in America, such as Hussain Kamani, who claims that Muslim men may fulfil any sexual desires "with a female slave that belongs to him." When Muslim husbands are learning to "train their wives," beating them, Kamani concedes, should only be a "last measure."
Hasan's regular appearances at Islamist events are cause for concern.
Is Hasan not merely a Muslim journalist, but an Islamist activist? Certainly, his speeches in the past suggest some Islamist leanings. And his regular appearances at Islamist events, as well as his long-standing employment by Al Jazeera, the key media arm of the despotic, terror-financing Qatari regime, are cause for concern. Hasan has also appeared [2] to despair over Muslims "losing battles" against the Jews, whom, he warned, had "out-thought" Muslims.

MSNBC has cancelled far-left presenter Mehdi Hasan's show as part of a wider shake-up of its weekend lineup Hasan will remain with the network as an on-camera analyst and fill-in host
It comes after Hasan's strong on-air criticism of Israel provoked backlash online.MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan has compared non-Muslims to "animals" and homosexuals to "pedophiles" and "sexual deviants".
Hard to imagine MSNBC allowing someone on television who said similar things about a different religion — let alone giving them a show!Last edited (Nov 27, 2023)
-New year, new plans,’ says Mehdi Hasan, announcing ‘MSNBC’ departure
The British-American host has been one of Israel’s most vociferous critics on cable television], JNS, January 8, 2024.The cable-TV news network MSNBC canceled “The Medi Hasan Show” in November in the early months of Israel’s war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip. As of Sunday, the popular program host has decided to step away from the station.
He announced his plans in a video, saying: “Tonight is not just my final episode of the ‘Mehdi Hasan Show,’ it’s my last day with MSNBC. Yes, I’ve decided to leave.”
The now-former MSNBC contributor has long been a harsh critic of Israel. He has called non-Muslims “animals.” [3].
“You cannot kill your way to victory over a foreign, occupied people,” Hasan wrote on Nov. 9. “My ‘Mehdi Hasan Show’ commentary on how Israel’s killing of innocents in Gaza only strengthens Hamas and its recruiting efforts—as America discovered the hard way in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
“Ever since 9/11, we have just taken it for granted that certain countries can send drones or bombs into foreign sovereign countries, across national borders, to kill people they’ve decided, without an arrest or trial, are guilty of crimes,” Hasan wrote on Jan. 2. “But most other countries can’t do this.”
StopAntisemitism wrote that “Qatari mouthpiece and anti-Israel propaganda machine Mehdi Hasan leaves MSNBC after the network dumps his show.”
Hasan previously worked as an anchor for Al Jazeera and as a podcaster at the left-wing website The Intercept.</small>-Brian Flood , Joseph A. Wulfsohn, Liberal MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan history of controversial rhetoric in spotlight amid hostile coverage of Israel. Hasan previously apologized for recently resurfaced remarks, Fox News, November 28, 2023.
MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan has been one of the strongest critics of Israel in the mainstream media during the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, but it's nothing new for the hard-left anchor who has never been shy about offering strident commentary.
During the conflict, he has consistently voiced hostility toward Israel, which he has long opposed as an "illegal[sic]" occupying[sic] power of Palestinians.
While with The Intercept, he frequently blistered the country, blaming it for the rise of Hamas in the first place and defending the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against its critics...
Mehdi Hasan on 9/11
MSNBC host Mehdi Hasans problematic commentary continues to haunt him as he contributes to his network's coverage of the Israel-Hamas war. (MSNBC)
Inflammatory remarks he made in 2009 before becoming an MSNBC personality began circulating online again, when he compared non-Muslims to "animals" and linked homosexuals to "pedophiles" and "sexual deviants." New York Post reporter Jon Levine said it's "hard to imagine MSNBC allowing someone on television who said similar things about a different religion."
"We know that keeping the moral high ground is key. Once we lose the moral high ground, we are no different from the rest of the non-Muslims, from the rest of those human beings who live their lives as animals, bending any rule to fulfill any desire," Hasan said in one of the unearthed clips.
In 2019, Hasan apologized for those comments, calling them "dumb offensive ranty stuff" and admitted that he said "extreme-sounding things" as a young man...
But his controversial comments didn't end there. In 2021, Hasan rushed to defend Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., who suggested the U.S. and Israel were just as guilty of "war crimes[sic]" as terrorist groups like Hamas and the Taliban.
"Look, Americans get very upset when our nation is accused of war crimes, but I'm sorry to break this to you, our nation has done some pretty awful things abroad, and we have to be able to talk about them," Hasan wrote at the time.
During the 2019 uproar over Omar's antisemitic rhetoric, Hasan downplayed the controversy, saying the Democratic lawmaker "maybe unwittingly echoed tropes" but directed most of his ire at then-President Trump and Republicans as well as the media's coverage of her comments.
"She hasn’t said anything about Jews. She has not said one word about Jews," Hasan argued, then an MSNBC guest. "She talked about supporters of Israel insisting that politicians in the U.S. should show allegiance to Israel and that’s kind of undeniable. I mean, that’s been reported on for years… A lot of the good-faith criticism is based on kind of misreporting of what she’s said and done."
He also compared past Israeli airstrikes against Hamas in Gaza to Russia bombing Ukraine in March 2022 in the early weeks of the ongoing European war.
It's not just his commentary on Israel and Islam that has raised eyebrows. His own journalistic credibility was drawn into question earlier this year when he was accused of plagiarizing a piece arguing in favor of parents spanking their children.
Hasan, who worked at Al Jazeera before joining MSNBC, recently held a combative interview with Israeli advisor Mark Regev. On November 16, prior to Israel and Hamas reaching a deal to free some of the hostages kidnapped by Hamas terrorists, Hasan accused Israel of turning down a similar deal.
"Sorry, Mehdi, that’s just disinformation. There was not a real option for a deal before the grand operation. It was looked at seriously but Hamas put nothing on the table that could be worked with and so that’s just not correct to say there was an option," Regev said before noting that a deal could still be worked out because military pressure was "making Hamas understand" they need to release hostages.
Regev then scolded Hasan for not informing viewers that Hamas controls the Gaza Health Ministry, which has been putting out statistics related to how many people have been killed during the war.
"You have to say the ‘Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry," Regev said before Hasan shot back, "You can say that, I don’t have to say what you ask me to say."
"Please, tell the viewers the truth, that information is provided by Hamas," Regev said.
Hasan also accused the Israeli government of k... children and of spreading propaganda and false information during the tense exchange.
Hasan has condemned the brutality of the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7 and scolded opponents of Israel who downplay or ignore the group's atrocities from that day, writing on X last month, "Too many people on this hellsite and elsewhere have weirdly & cruelly decided that opposing Israel’s war in Gaza requires them to try & deny the sheer scale of Hamas brutality on Oct 7th. It doesn’t."
Hasan did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Fox News' David Rutz contributed to this report. - ↑ David M. Litman, MSNBC’S Velshi invents facts to bash Israel. JNS, September 10, 2023.
Once again, the network’s audience has been left not just uninformed but misinformed. With hosts like Ayman Mohyeldin and Mehdi Hasan, opinions at MSNBC about Israel are strong, but facts are dispensable or, at best, malleable. Such is the level of fairness and accuracy that one could be forgiven for mistaking an MSNBC host monologue about Israel with another unhinged rant by Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas at the United Nations.
The latest example comes from Ali Velshi, who spent much of his Sunday morning weaving a narrative about an evil [sic] Jewish state, threading together outright lies and material omissions to spin his false tale of a brutal, undemocratic apartheid state. As is typical at MSNBC, the host’s guests on the subject included only those who largely align with him ideologically and on whom he could count to refrain from substantively challenging his blatant lies.
Consequently, the network’s audience was once again left not just uninformed, but misinformed.
Some of Velshi’s false claims were transparently malicious, like his description of the 2023 fatalities in Israel: “According to the U.N., nearly 200 Palestinians have been killed in Israel and the West Bank since the start of this year. That is the highest number since 2005. Apparently, some 30 Israelis have also been killed in these clashes.”
Almost none of the Israelis were killed in “clashes.” Rather, almost all of them were civilians going about their business who were murdered by Palestinian terrorists. For example, when Lucy Dee and her two daughters were gunned down on the road on a family trip to Tiberias, they were not engaged in “clashes.”
On the other hand, the vast majority of those “nearly 200 Palestinians” were killed either in clashes or while carrying out terror attacks. Despite lying about the circumstances of the Israeli deaths, Velshi refrains from mentioning this detail when it comes to the Palestinians. The host’s selective commentary also references only an increase in “brutal [Israeli] settler attacks,” omitting that the growth in the number of Palestinian attacks on Israelis preceded and has far outpaced the spike in settler attacks.
Then there were the false claims that expose the, at best, unwillingness to verify the accuracy of his statements. After mocking Israelis for living “under the illusion” of democracy, in his words, Velshi claimed:
“Netanyahu has undermined that with a judicial overhaul which essentially gives politicians, those extreme far-right politicians in his government, full control over Supreme Court appointments. It also allows parliament to override judicial decisions, subverting one of the sole checks on the government’s authority. The question is what Netanyahu and his ultra-national government plan to do with their newly unfettered power.”
None of this is true. The only judicial overhaul bill that has been adopted is the “reasonableness” amendment, which has nothing to do with Supreme Court appointments and doesn’t grant the Knesset the ability to override judicial decisions. While such proposals have been floated, they have not been adopted, yet Velshi tells his audience otherwise. Perhaps Velshi needs to consider whether he is the one operating under illusions.
In another example of a disinterest in accuracy, Velshi claimed that Israel has approved construction of “thousands of new settlements in the occupied territories.” Of course, no such thing happened. Israel approved the construction of new houses in already existing settlements.
There were also false claims that illustrate how the host likes to speak confidently about matters he knows very little about. On the topic of settlements, Velshi charged that: “Israeli settlements in the West Bank are deemed illegal under international law, a finding that is notably ignored by Israel and its greatest military and financial supporter, the United States.”
Whose finding? Who did the deeming? While some governments and political entities may make this argument, that does not make something “illegal under international law,” nor do their opinions count as “findings.” That’s simply not how international law works.
The long-winded monologue also contained erroneous and often contradictory statements about “apartheid” and “occupation.” Velshi began by declaring that Israel’s “occupation” is “illegal.” Assuming for the sake of argument that the West Bank is “occupied,” military occupations are not illegal. In fact, there are entire treaties regulating how a military occupation is to be carried out, such as the Fourth Geneva Convention. Suffice it to say that writing entire laws on how to carry out an illegal activity would represent a fundamental misunderstanding of the concept of law.
The laws on occupation recognize that during armed conflict, territory will change hands, and thus a certain set of regulations is necessary to govern how belligerents are to treat the people of the occupied territory pending the resolution of the conflict. Israel captured the territory during the Six Day War when it defended itself against surrounding Arab armies. Though Israel subsequently made numerous offers for peace and statehood (e.g., 2000, 2008), the Palestinian leadership has rejected them all. Consequently, Judea & Samaria have remained in Israel’s hands absent a final status agreement (as called for, for example, in U.N. Security Council Resolution 242). Palestinian rejectionism does not magically render Israel’s occupation “illegal,” or else international law and decades of peace process consensus would be meaningless.
But herein lies Velshi’s ignorance or bad faith: he argues, in effect, that Israel cannot be a democracy because it does not give the Palestinians the right to vote in Israeli elections. It’s a claim that misses the entire point of the laws of occupation. It would be absurd to suggest that an occupied population must be granted the right to vote in the national elections of an occupying power. No one would seriously suggest that for the period in which the United States was an occupying power in Iraq that Iraqis had the right to vote in U.S. elections. Nor would one make the argument in relation to any of the other coalition members. Yet that is what Velshi’s argument implies.
To grant Palestinians the right to vote, Israel would have to annex the territory, an act which Velshi conveniently and inaccurately redefines as “totally controlling [territory] without offering its residents a vote.” Yet annexation is prohibited under the laws of occupation. Velshi’s fantasy version of “international law” simply puts Israel in a no-win situation. - ↑ Rachel O'Donoghue, Dishonest Reporter of the Year Awards 2023 Honest Reporting, January 1, 2024

Apparently unsatisfied with merely skewed coverage, MSNBC went for out-and-out propaganda during last Thursday’s Live with Kate Snow, airing a map of Palestinians’ “loss of land” since 1946:
Obviously, it shows no such thing. But the image accompanied an interview with Martin Fletcher, MSNBC’s Middle East “expert,” who, naturally, waxed mournful. - ↑ https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/msnbcs-joy-reid-accused-of-islamophobia-for-comparing-the-way-muslims-act-to-radicalized-trump-supporters/ar-BB18BzJQ

'Rachel Maddow Show' deletes segment of guest after he was criticized by Auschwitz Memorial for claiming Putin more of a killer than Hitler.
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow's show account on Twitter was forced to delete a segment of a guest comparing Russian President Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler after it was fact-checked by the Auschwitz Memorial. Auschwitz Memorial @AuschwitzMuseum Replying to @MaddowBlog:
On a factual note: Hitler did kill ethnic Germans & German-speaking people: those who opposed the Nazi regime, those who resisted, those who did not fit into the 'Weltanschauung'. He ordered the murder of people with different disabilities & finally the murder of German Jewry.
By late Saturday, the show had taken down the post, and issued a correction emphasizing that contrary to what McFaul asserted, Hitler did indeed kill "millions of Germans." - ↑ Mark Finkelstein, MSNBC Analyst: Prosecutor Kamala 'Put Her Finger In Putin's Chest', News Busters, March 13th, 2022.
The only people Kamala Harris has managed to bully lately have been members of her own staff. But an MSNBC analyst tried this morning to paint Harris as a tough prosecutor who intimidated Russian dictator Vladimir Putin with her remarks in Poland earlier this week. Appearing on The Cross Connection hosted by Tiffany Cross on Saturday, MSNBC analyst Errin Haines said:
"Yet another piece of her lived experience that she really brings to this role as Vice President in this moment of crisis, and that is her role as prosecutor, right? This is somebody who is used to kind of taking on bad guys for a living. And so, her really putting her finger in the chest of Vladimir Putin and saying that there will be consequences."

An MSNBC op-ed is getting viciously slammed online for claiming that fitness has been co-opted by the far-right, and that working out is “central” to fascism.
Cynthia Miller-Idriss, a professor at American University studying polarization and extremism, wrote that the far-right has taken advantage of the pandemic trend of at-home fitness to further expand its radicalization efforts. She cited research on alleged “fascist fitness” chats where young men are lured into communities to discuss fitness only to be inundated with fascist messaging later on. - ↑ De'ot - Chapter Four, By Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon ("Maimonides"); translated by Eliyahu Touger

Back in 2019, Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar issued an apology to the Jewish community.
“Anti-Semitism is real and I am grateful for Jewish allies and colleagues who are educating me on the painful history of antisemitic tropes,” she said. “My intention is never to offend my constituents or Jewish Americans as a whole. We have to always be willing to step back and think through criticism, just as I expect people to hear me when others attack me for my identity. This is why I unequivocally apologize.”
The congresswoman released the statement after she posted a tweet that suggested US politicians are paid by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) to support Israel.
Referencing US founding father Benjamin Franklin, whose face adorns the $100 bill, Omar posted that it was “all about the Benjamins baby” in reference to the lobbying group’s allegedly boundless influence on lawmakers.
Within hours of the tweet, the then-Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the entirety of the Democrat leadership condemned the tweet in what was labeled an “extraordinary rebuke” by media outlets reporting on the troubling incident...
