Madonna Louise Ciccone (stage name Madonna), born in Bay City, Michigan on August 16, 1958 (age 65), is an American singer known for her provocative style of dress, songs, music videos and books.

She is one of the world's best-selling female recording artists, and she is listed by Billboard Magazine as the second most successful artist, behind the Beatles. Madonna was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.^[1]

Madonna has starred in numerous films including Desperately Seeking Susan, Evita, Dick Tracy, Swept Away and Shanghai Surprise. Overall, her film success has not equaled the success of her singing career. In 2006, she announced she would not be starring in any more movies, because she did not want her poor acting reputation to ruin the movie.^[2] However, she has started to direct movies, the first example being W.E., about the relationship between King Edward VIII and American divorcee Wallis Simpson.

She has been married twice. Madonna married actor Sean Penn in 1985. Their marriage was rife with violence, and the couple divorced in 1989, shortly after Penn was charged with felony domestic abuse. She was married for seven years to British film director Guy Ritchie.^[3] They divorced in 2008.^[4] She has since dated several men younger than herself.

Madonna has reputedly had extensive plastic surgery including a full facelift, cheekbone implants and Botox.

Ciccone often claims to be a trailblazer for the leftist "Women's" movement. Madonna, with a net worth estimated at $650 million, blames the patriarchy for not having reached her full potential.^[5]

Criticism

In the USA, conservatives (especially Christians) have objected to Ciccone's "immoral" or "immodest" garb and extremely sacrilegious material such as videos featuring her simulating immoral acts with statues and public vulgarity. Pope John Paul II was especially critical of Madonna, urging Catholics to boycott her music and concerts.

Early in her career, she became known for her risqué attitudes towards religion and sexuality. These attitudes were perhaps best exemplified in the music videos for her songs "Erotica," featuring implied homosexuality and other abhorrent sexual practices, and "Like a Prayer" which implies a sexual relationship between Madonna and a sculpture of a black Jesus Christ which comes to life during the course of the video. Her Truth or Dare "documentary" and an accompanying book provocatively titled Sex both were explicit displays of her deviant sexual exploits and were harshly criticized by pro-family groups. Many critics have called her actions as "manipulative" and "deliberately controversial" simply to stay famous and relevant and to cover for perceptions of limited talent as both a singer and actress; two of her more well-known public displays of provocative attention-seeking behavior were her 1994 appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman (where she refused to stop swearing and making innuendo-laced comments during her chat with Letterman, engaged in other depraved behavior and refused to leave the set when her time was up, leading to some fed-up members of the audience to jeer and heckle her and tell her point-blank to leave)^[6] and her 2021 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (where she flashed her surgically-enhanced backside to the audience on camera and engaged in sexually provocative behavior while slithering across Fallon's desk).^[7] Madonna has negatively influenced many younger females, such as Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus, singlehandedly spawning "raunch" or "pornochic culture."

Involvement in Africa

For over a decade, Madonna has also been religiously following a mystical cult rooted in bogus Judaism called Kabbalah which she has also used as a means to exploit the impoverished country of Malawi via her Raising Malawi Foundation. Her "work" to create orphanages and schools in Malawi has come with a thinly veiled "Kabbalah only clause", meaning the children must be indoctrinated into this cult to at least some extent if they want to partake in the services. A 2008 fundraiser for Raising Malawi on the lawn of the UN saw many government and entertainment figures, including Oprah Winfrey, distancing themselves from Madonna. Many international human rights and children’s rights organizations have fought or spoken out regarding her illegal adoptions of two Malawian children which were only successful after documented payoffs to corrupt government officials. Upon the recent "adoption" of her newest Malawian child, Mercy James, Madonna embarked on a six-month concert tour of Europe and the child was given over to nannies and full-time staff in clear view of the media. The "schools for Malawi" that Madonna had vowed to build "so many of" have yet to exist.

Women's March controversy

Following the 2017 Women's March, Madonna drew heavy criticism for her controversial public comments at the march about wanting to bomb a Trump-occupied White House during an obscenity-filled rant,^[8][9] which led to her becoming the subject of a criminal investigation by the Secret Service for her comments^[10][11] and calls for her arrest,^[12][13] to which she initially responded with a defiant and obscene message on her Twitter account before she deleted the message and backed down.

Opposition to the Second Amendment and the police

Madonna recently came out in full opposition to the police and to the Second Amendment and in support of the criminals engaging in race rioting and tearing apart Minneapolis in the wake of the death of George Floyd. She inflamed racial tensions by posting a profane anti-police screed on her Instagram account^[14] and also called for revocation of the Second Amendment and attacked law-abiding gun owners, declaring that no one, including the police, should own guns.^[15] Anti-Second Amendment celebrities such as Madonna, however, have a history of hypocrisy in their words vs. their deeds, as they have been willing to make exemptions for their own bodyguards to carry guns (owing to their sense of entitlement due to their celebrity status) while attacking the rights of law-abiding gun owners who use their firearms for protection of self, their personal property, their loved ones, the general public and their country^[16] and demanding the imposition of gun control laws, whose history has shown such laws to be ineffective and useless as they target only law-abiding gun owners while doing nothing to control criminals with guns, who would have no regard for such laws anyway but count on those same laws to penalize and hamper lawful gun owners - something which celebrities like Madonna generally refuse to understand.^[17]
