One of many types of magnolia

A magnolia is a type of white or pink flower with large and plentiful petals. It is pollinated by beetles. [1]

Mississippi is known as the "Magnolia State" and the magnolia is its state flower (and state tree). [2] It is also the state flower of Louisiana. [3]
