Maintenance of Certification is a monopolistic, anti-competitive requirement by specialty boards for physicians to waste time and expense on "maintaining" their board certification, akin to requiring someone to "maintain" his college diploma years after graduation.
A legislative analysis performed in Connecticut found that:
