Malice is the desire to hurt, injure or cause suffering to another person. It may be an innate trait or character flaw but may also be built up over years of resentment. When an act is performed with malice it is described as being 'malicious'.

In law, malice refers to the evil intent of a person who commits a crime against another.

Compare Hate and Enmity.
