'''Maryam Namazie''' (born 1963) is an [[Iran]]ian-born activist. She left Iran in 1979 with her family and is now a critic of [[Islam]] and an outspoken [[atheist]]. She lives in the [[United Kingdom]] and campaigns for women's rights as well as combating Islam in [[Europe]]. In 2005, Namazie was named 'Secularist of the Year' by the [[National Secular Society]]. In the past, Nazamie has helped Iranian [[refugee]]s escape from the [[Middle East]] into Europe.
