Maryam Nazamie

Maryam Namazie (b. 1963) is an Iranian-born activist. She left Iran in 1979 with her family and is now a critic of Islam and an outspoken atheist. She lives in the United Kingdom and campaigns for women's rights as well as combating Islam in Europe. In 2005, Namazie was named 'Secularist of the Year' by the National Secular Society. In the past, Nazamie has helped Iranian refugees escape from the Middle East into Europe.
