Meredith Louise Vieira (born December 30, 1953) is a co-anchor of the "Today" Show on NBC as well as hosting the game show, Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Vieira previously co-hosted "The View" on ABC. Vieira also won five Emmy awards while working at CBS News.[1]

Personal life

Vieira fondly recalled growing up with a feminist mother who disliked the "male-dominated hierarchy" of the Catholic church and how Meridith now has a "spirituality, not a religion." [2]

Vieira and her husband and their three children live in New York.[3]

Criticism

Some media newsroom insiders have questioned Meredith Vieira's objectivity, claiming that some of her past reporting includes a liberal slant.[4][5]

Rush Limbaugh

Vieira was interviewing Wesley Clark about comments Rush Limbaugh made about the phony soldier incident. Vieira said "why don't you just brush off these comments by Limbaugh like an annoying gnat instead of legitimizing them and bringing more attention to them?" [6]

Afghanistan War

Vieira interviewed Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai and she seemed so convinced that the U.S. had lost the war in Afghanistan she was perplexed when Karzai didn't share her assessment of failure.[7]
