Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, also known as MGM for short, is a legendary movie studio, founded in 1924 by Samuel Goldwyn and Louis B. Mayer. They were one of the more prominent studios during the 1930s and 1940s, with hits like The Wizard of Oz, and later hits like Ben-Hur, North by Northwest, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Its television division, MGM Television, was founded in 1955.

Their logo is very well-known; it features a roaring lion in a frame of film with the Latin phrase Ars Gratia Artis (art for the art's sake) above his head.

Today, MGM is owned by MGM Holdings, a holding company 100% owned by since 2021.
