The Miami Heat are a National Basketball Association (NBA) team based in Miami, Florida. They are members of the Eastern Conference, Southeast Division.

History and League Success

The franchise was founded as an expansion team in 1988. The team did poorly until hiring legendary coach Pat Riley as team president.

The team's best stretch was from 2011-2014 when LeBron James was with the team (as part of a "super team" which included Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh); however, despite making the NBA Finals four consecutive years, they would only win two times (2012 and 2013). They also won the 2006 title as well, but lost in the 2020 Finals during the COVID-19 shortened season and "bubble" playoff format.
