Michael Jonathan Cloud (born May 13, 1975) is a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives for Texas's 27th congressional district. As of July 2018, he was the newest member of the legislative chamber.

The winner of a special election on June 30, 2018, Cloud fills the remaining six months of the seat vacated by fellow Republican Blake Farenthold, who resigned earlier amid controversy over his legal settlement of a sexual harassment lawsuit with public funds.[1]

Cloud is a former chair of the Victoria County Republican Party. In the special election, he polled 19,856 votes (54.7 percent) in a field of nine candidates. The second place candidate, Democrat Eric Holguin, a former congressional aide, received 11,594, just under one-third of the vote. The two met again for the two-year term in the November 6 general election as their respective party nominees.[2] Cloud defeated Holguin, 124,958 (60.3 percent) to 75,761 (36.6 percent).

Cloud carried the endorsement of the conservative Club for Growth Political Action Committee as well as the House Freedom Caucus.[3]
