The minke whale, also known as the Lesser Rorqual, is a marine mammal belonging to the suborder of baleen whales. It lives in most of the world's oceans, but is threatened with extinction. Adult minke whales weigh approximately 14 tons. The minke whale was first identified by Bernard Lacepede in 1804.
