Moresnet is a small district now part of north-east Belgium which, because of a dispute in defining the boundary between Prussia and the Netherlands at the end of the Napoleonic Wars, was declared a neutral zone in 1816. In 1919 it became part of Belgium (which had not existed when the zone was first declared).
