View source for Oceanic volcanoes

In a typical "oceanic" [[environment]], [[volcano]]es are aligned along the [[crest]] of a broad [[ridge]] that marks an active [[fracture]] system in the oceanic [[crust]]. [[Basalt]]ic [[magma]], generated in the upper [[mantle]] beneath the ridge, rise along fractures through the basaltic layer.
