Deripaska likely worked with Orbis International, Christopher Steele and [[Michael Isikoff ]] independently of Hillary Clinton and the DNC, and was motivated by revenge on Paul Manafort. Steele evidently had two clients, Deripaska and FusionGPS, and used the research he had already gathered on Manafort for Deripaska with his Fusion clients. Isikoff had already published his forst first hit piece on Manafort in April 2016, before Steele was hired by Fusion.
