A writing implement.

History

The ball point pen was invented in 1936. Prior to this invention, the fountain pen was the dominant writing instrument in America, especially as defined by the Waterman company. Fountain pens are still sold to persons of exquisite taste, who recognize the distinction that these delightful instruments carry.[1]
