Peter Vivian Daniel (April 24, 1784 – May 31, 1860) was an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. On the Court he was committed to a Jeffersonian government - that is, an agricultural economy and a limited role for government.[1] Daniel voted with the majority in Dred Scott v. Sanford, which ruled that, amongst other things, African Americans could not be citizens of the United States even if they were not slaves.[1]
