Pierre-Auguste Cot (Bédarieux 1837 - Bédarieux 1883) was a French painter. Cot established himself through his participation in the annual Salon, eventually winnin several medals for his mythological, historical, and allegorical paintings, as well as his portraits. [1]
- From 1870 on, his popularity immensely grew. In 1874 he received the title 'Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur'. He was also asked to be a jury member of the painting festivals Salon de Paris and the Prix de Rome. [2]
Cot most famous paintings are "Le Printemps" and "The Storm", both on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
