A poem is a usually short written piece belonging to the literature of poetry. Some poems have rhymes, as in Robert Frost's famous "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening."[1]

In a humorous explanation of the difference between a poem and prose, a poem is text with an uneven right margin.

There are many different sorts of poems – from formal sonnets to haikus to experimental free verse. Shakespeare wrote many sonnets in addition to his plays.[2]
