Political correctness and comedy

Political correctness has significantly influenced comedy.

Several comedians have been punished or attacked for being politically incorrect. University students and staff have advocated against hosting politically incorrect comedians, and have advised the comedians they host only to use politically correct humour.

There are many examples of the censorship of comedians. Mainstream conservative Steven Crowder faced severe YouTube censorship for lampooning homosexual Vox "journalist" Carlos Maza's unfounded claim that, as Crowder put it, "conservatives control the media." This was referred to as the "Adpocalypse," occurring at the behest of Vox in 2019. In a similar manner to the savaging of Todd Akin by Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and others at Fox News, Blaire White and Bret Weinstein savaged and insulted Steven Crowder while claiming to defend him, but in reality making it perfectly clear that they were only defending his right to a platform.

Left-leaning Dave Chappelle was attacked by the mainstream media for his Netflix special, "Sticks and Stones," which, as can be deciphered from the title, was intensely politically incorrect, poking fun at feminists, the LGBT, and social justice warriors, among others.

Currently, it is politically incorrect to criticize communist China. Notorious YouTuber PewDiePie has commented on this. So have libertarians Trey Parker and Matt Stone, through their animated series South Park. They released an episode entitled, "Band in China," which criticized the communist Chinese government and those who attempt to appease it, and which, ironically, caused the entire series to be banned in China (see Essay:South Park Is Back!).

Conservative ventriloquist and stand-up comedian Jeff Dunham was once censored in Malaysia for his puppet which resembles an Islamic terrorist.
