Postpartum depression

Postpartum depression (or Postnatal depression) is a clinical form of depression experienced by mothers after they give birth. Between 5% and 25% of women report experiencing postpartum depression. It is commonly used as an excuse by feministic mothers as an excuse to not fulfill their motherly role. Men can experience it too, but it is much less common.


Symptoms

Symptoms can include

  • sadness
  • hopelessness
  • neglect of the child
  • fatigue
  • thoughts of harming the child
  • physically harming the child


Treatment

Group therapy and counseling have successfully treated and cured postpartum depression in men and women. Medication is sometimes prescribed but is discouraged. Counseling may well include speaking with your preferred spiritual mentor.
