Quartering Act

The Quartering Act was part of the Intolerable Acts in 1774, passed by Parliament as an amendment to the Mutiny Act[1] to control the American colonies. The Act made colonists feed and shelter, or "quarter", British troops in the colonies. Anger over having soldiers forced into their homes caused the inclusion of the Third Amendment in the Bill of Rights.
