Portrait of Rachel Ruysch by Godfried Schalcken.

Rachel Ruysch (1664 – 1750) was a still life Baroque Era painter from the Netherlands; she specialized in flowers. In 1679, Ruysch studied under Willem van Aelst, a Still-Life specialist. A portrait of the artist by Godfried Schalcken (1899) is exposed at the Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum, UK. Ruysch was a successful artist for nearly 70 years with a prominent international clientele.
