Raleigh is the capital city of North Carolina. Raleigh, together with Durham and Chapel Hill make up the cities of the Triangle, so named after the Research Triangle Park. It is the second largest city in North Carolina after Charlotte.
Professional sports in Raleigh
The NHL's Carolina Hurricanes moved to Raleigh from Hartford, Connecticut in 1997. They play at the RBC Center, formerly the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena. In 2006, the Hurriances won the Stanley Cup over the Edmonton Oilers.
