Reagan Democrat is a term coined by political pollsters to indicate those Democrats who voted for Ronald Reagan in the 1980 and 1984 Presidential Elections. Most Reagan Democrats were found to be middle-class working men and women from the Northeast primarily who had come to feel that the Democratic party wasn't championing middle-class causes at the time, and also blamed President Jimmy Carter for the economic recession of the late 1970s.
