Reinhold Messner, born on September 17, 1944, is an Italian mountain climber credited with several feats including being the only climber to have climbed all 14 of the world's highest mountains, and the first mountaineer (along with his climbing partner Peter Habeler) to summit Mount Everest without the use of supplemental oxygen.[1][2][3]
