Riyadh

Riyadh (Arabic: ar-Riyāḍ) is the capital and largest city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The city is located in the geographical center of the Arabian Peninsula It has a population of over 4 million, and is home to over 20% of the population of Saudi Arabia. The name means a place of gardens and trees ("rawdah").

On May 12, 2003 al-Qaeda targeted a housing complex where westerners lived killing 26 people. 9 suicide bombers took part in the attacks. With this attack Saudi Arabia would retarget terrorists, although similar attacks would succeed in November 2003.

It is known for being the birthplace of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
