Robert Mullins is a theologian and very prominent archaeologist of the ancient near east, with research interests in archaeology, history, geography, biblical studies, and an overall effort to conduct studies in order to have a greater understanding of the ancient near eastern world. Mullins is currently an Assistant Professor in Azusa Pacific University.
In 1975, Robert Mullins received his B.A. from the Southern California College in Religion. He then went on to conduct Graduate Studies in the Jerusalem University College in 1977. By 1985, he had earned his M.A. in Theology with a magna cum laude from the Fuller Theological Seminary, and in 2003, he received a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Archaeology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Between 1989-2000, Robert Mullins was a Lecturer in the University of the Holy Land in the Department of Archaeology. He was also a Lecturer in Archaeology at the Jerusalem University College between 1987-2002, a Lecturer at the Hebrew University between 1998-2000. Between 2003-2004, he was a Visiting Professor at the University of California in Near Eastern Archaeology, and from 2006 until now, he is an Associate Professor at Azusa Pacific University in Biblical Studies.
In 1996, Mullins received the Philip and Muriel Berman Foundation Scholarship. He went on to received a United States Information Agency Junior Research Fellow from 1997-1998, James A. Montgomery Fellowship from 1998-2002, and a National Endowment for the Humanities from 2004-2005. Mullins has conducted archaeological work and excavations in Masada, Tel Beth Shean, Gaza, Tel Rehov, Tell Atchana, and Zincirli Höyük. Mullins also has professional memberships in the American Schools of Oriental Research, Archaeological Institute of America, Ecumenical Theological Fraternity, Egypt Exploration Society, Israel Exploration Society, and Society of Biblical Literature. Mullins is on the editorial board of the journal Antigue Oriente (Ancient Near East), and on the Board of Trustees for the American Schools of Oriental Research. Mullins is also the author of numerous published papers and several books.
