"Rock Around the Clock" was a 1955 hit song by Bill Haley and his Comets.[1] It was originally sung by a lesser-known group called Sonny Dae and His Knights, and released as a B-side before becoming a widely popular rock classic. The song was played over the opening and closing credits of the movie Blackboard Jungle in 1955 making it the first rock and roll song used in a Hollywood film. It was later used on the soundtrack of the film American Graffiti and as the opening theme of the TV sitcom Happy Days during that show's first two seasons. [2]
