The Rosetta Stone in the British museum.

The Rosetta Stone is an Egyptian writing made in 196 BC which inscribes the same message in hieroglyphics and Greek. When it was found in AD 1779, it enabled the translation of hieroglyphics for the first time. The hieroglyphics were first deciphered by Jean-Francois Champollion in 1822.

Rosetta Stone is also a series of computer programs for learning languages.
