'''Criticizing Islam is racist.''' Muslims are oppressed by Western cultures both historically and today, and that makes them a protected class. Islam is a religion of peace and Mohammad was a feminist. As such, neither Islam nor Muslims can be criticized and any such criticism is racist, bigoted, and Islamophobic. Any claim that there's legitimate criticism of Islam is just disguised white supremacy.

You're not allowed to talk about women's issues if you're a man, or talk about racism if you're white. Men are not allowed to have public opinions on women's issues like feminism, sexism, or the #MeToo movement, and they are especially not allowed to offer any criticism. In fact, any time a man corrects a woman in any way it's "mansplaining," and sexist by definition. White people are not allowed to have public opinions in debates or discussions on racism. Only black and brown people are because they have lived experiences with racism, and white people don't.

A social justice warrior, often abbreviated SJW, is a leftist who calls attention to some (real, imagined, or exaggerated) injustice in society in an excessive, inappropriate and often ineffectual way. The term is a pejorative for those who engage in identity politics and political correctness. A large percentage of social justice warriors are secular leftists.

Postmodernism and Marxism are both atheistic ideologies (see also: Atheism and postmodernism). See also: Atheism and social justice and Atheism and diversity

Keri Smith wrote at the news website Medium:

I don’t yet know what to call this part of the left. Maajid Nawaz calls them the “Regressive Left.” Others call them SJWs (Social Justice Warriors) or the Alt-Left. The ideology is post-modernist cultural marxism, and it operates as a secular religion. Most are indoctrinated in liberal elite colleges, though many are being indoctrinated online these days. It has its own dogma and jargon, meant to make you feel like a good person, and used to lecture others on their ‘sin.’ “Check your privilege”- much like “mansplaining” and “gaslighting”- all at one time useful terms- have over time lost a lot of their meaning. These days I see them most frequently being abused as weaponized ad hominem attacks on a person’s immutable identity markers….a way to avoid making an argument, while simultaneously claiming an unearned moral highground in a discussion.

I have been wondering why more people on the left are not speaking up against violence, in favor of free exchange of ideas and dialogue, in favor of compassion. But I know why. I was in the cult. Part of it is that you are a true believer, and part of it is that you are fearful of being called an apostate — in being trashed as a sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, xenophobic, fascist, white supremacist nazi.[1]

SJW atheists and rifts within American atheism

See also: Atheist factions and Western atheism, schisms and political polarization

The atheist James Croft wrote about American atheism and SJW atheists:

...something has happened to organized secularism, such that its priorities and population have rapidly changed. Today, there is a deepening rift between two wings of the movement, and the changes in Skepticon demonstrate this perfectly. The new rift in the secular community, it seems to me, parallels one deepening in the culture at large: it is between those who are on board with contemporary social justice culture, and those who are not.

In the community of skeptics, this rift is filled with lava: there is an incredibly intense animosity between those on different sides, and the divide seems impossible to cross.[2]

PZ Myers declared, "...I don’t object to bestiality in a very limited set of specific conditions...".[3][4] See also: Atheism and bestiality

The atheist Ashley F. Miller wrote at The Orbit:

I have a lot of problems with the atheist movement, and I’ve struggled with engaging with it recently. The level of hostility towards women and hatred for the social justice framework, especially online, makes it really unappealing at times, and almost always exhausting."[5]

Acrimony between SJW atheists vs. non-SJW atheists and the Mythcon 2017 Conference

The Shadow To Light blog declares about the Mythcon 2017 Conference:

The atheist activists are at each other’s throats again. Shockingly, it involves another one of their conferences – the Mythicist Milwaukee conference. If you have never heard of this conference before, it’s safe to say you are not alone. It sounds like another one of those atheist meet-ups that’s about one step above a Furry convention, yet two steps below a Trekkie convention.

Anyway, the Mythicist Milwaukee invited Sargon of Akkad, Armoured Skeptic, and ShoeOnHead to speak and I guess these atheists have a reputation of being anti-SJW. Well, as we all know, social justice atheists tend to freak out and get hysterical when people who are not “woke” are actually allowed to speak. So PZ Myers, the Happy Atheist, began to launch attacks on the Mythicist Milwaukee conference, accusing them of hypocrisy and sexism.

Well, one thing led to another, and next thing y’know, activist Steve Shives renounced all friendship with activist Seth Andrews (the Thnking Atheist) because Andrews refused not to attend. Hemant Mehta, The Friendly Atheist, is MIA.[6]

Sikivu Hutchinson on diversity within the atheist movement

See also: Atheism and racism and Atheism and diversity and Black atheism and Atheism and Latino Americans

Atheist Sikivu Hutchinson says that atheist organizations generally focus on church/state separation and creationism issues and not on the concerns the less affluent African-American population faces.[7]

Hutchinson also mentioned that church organizations significantly help poor African-Americans.[8] See also: Atheism and uncharitablenss

In 2015, BloombergView reported concerning the United States:

According to a much-discussed 2012 report from the Pew Research Center on Religion and Public Life, only 3 percent of U.S. atheists and agnostics are black, 6 percent are Hispanic, and 4 percent are Asian. Some 82 percent are white. (The relevant figures for the population at large at the time of the survey were 66 percent white, 11 percent black, 15 percent Hispanic, 5 percent Asian.)

...Craig Keener, in his huge review of claims of miracles in a wide variety of cultures, concludes that routine rejection of the possibility of the supernatural represents an impulse that is deeply Eurocentric.[9]

The atheist Sikivu Hutchinson declared:

Despite frequent tokenistic calls for “diversity” within the “movement,” there are virtually no people of color in executive management positions in any of the major secular, atheist, or Humanist organizations — notable exceptions being Debbie Goddard of Center for Inquiry and Maggie Ardiente of American Humanist Association. People of color are constantly bombarded with claims of separatism, reverse discrimination, and “self-segregation” when they point to the absence of social justice, anti-racist community organizing, coalition-building, and visibility among secular organizations. After the Washington Post article, the vitriol and denialism among the “We are All Africans” white atheists was off the chain. This illustrates yet again that sticking a few of us on conference panels or secular boards is nothing but cheap appeasement. [tweetable]The only way to change the narrow politics of “inclusivity” is to change how secular Humanist and atheist agendas are shaped and framed. Moving Social Justice is a part of that strategy.[10]

Sikivu Hutchinson says that atheist organizations generally focus on church/state separation and creationism issues and not on the concerns the less affluent African-American population faces.[11]

Hutchinson also indicates that church organizations significantly help poor African-Americans.[12] See also: Atheism and uncharitablenss

Sikivu Hutchinson's criticism of RDF and Center for Inquiry merger

See also: Western atheism and race

Sikivu Hutchinson wrote:

The recent merger of the secular organization Center for Inquiry (CFI) and the Richard Dawkins Foundation (RDF) has been dubbed atheism's supergroup moment. Acknowledging the two organizations' outsized presence in the atheist world, Religion News Service acidly declared it a "royal wedding". The partnership, which gives Richard Dawkins a seat on the CFI board, smacks of a vindication of Dawkins' toxic, reactionary brand of damn-all-them-culturally-backward-Western-values-hating- Muslims New Atheism. As one of the most prominent global secular organizations, CFI's all-white board looks right at home with RDF's lily white board and staff.[13]

China, atheism, growth of Chinese Christianity, desecularization and social justice

China has the largest atheist population in the world.[14]

China has the world's largest atheist population.[15][16] China has state atheism (see: China and atheism).

East Asia contains about 25 percent of the world’s population. China’s population represents 20 percent of the people on earth.[17]

Razib Khan points out in Discover Magazine, "most secular nations in the world are those of East Asia, in particular what are often termed “Confucian societies.” It is likely therefore that the majority of the world’s atheists are actually East Asian."[18] See: Asian atheism and Global atheism

Desecularization in China is partly occurring due to Christianity's association with equality, individual freedom and democracy and the growth of Christianity in China (see: Asian atheism).[19] See also: Growth of Christianity in China

China's atheistic, communist regime is well-known for being authoritarian and tyrannical.[20] See also: Atheism and communism

Atheism and the City website about social justice philosophy

See also: Atheism and dogmatism and Atheism and open-mindedness

The website Atheism and the City indicates:

Social justice is in a way becoming the new religion of the Left.

Here are some of the dogmas of modern day social justice philosophy:

Gender is a social construct. Biological sex differences aren't real objective things. Sex and gender are all based on ideas from patriarchal societies.

There are no inherent differences in men and women. Since gender is a social construct the only reason why men and women behave differently is because they're raised differently, and not because of any innate biological differences. If we raised boys like girls they'd like all the things girls typically like and vice versa. Humans are blank slates.

Criticizing Islam is racist. Muslims are oppressed by Western cultures both historically and today, and that makes them a protected class. Islam is a religion of peace and Mohammad was a feminist. As such, neither Islam nor Muslims can be criticized and any such criticism is racist, bigoted, and Islamophobic. Any claim that there's legitimate criticism of Islam is just disguised white supremacy.

Black/brown people and women are always more oppressed. There is a scale of oppression such that all black people are more oppressed than all white people, and all women are more oppressed than all men, regardless of other factors.

You're not allowed to talk about women's issues if you're a man, or talk about racism if you're white. Men are not allowed to have public opinions on women's issues like feminism, sexism, or the #MeToo movement, and they are especially not allowed to offer any criticism. Refusal to date or have sex with a trans person must be due to sexist, homophobic, patriarchal heteronormative attitudes.

In addition to these stated dogmas, many SJWs will act as if all white people are collectively responsible for racism, slavery, and colonialism, and all men are collectively responsible for all the sexism and the mistreatment of women that has ever happened, effectively making it seem as if these are their lived-by dogmas.[21]
