Seán Mac Diarmada

Seán Mac Diarmada (February 28, 1883 – May 12, 1916) was from Kiltyclogher, County Leitrim in Connacht and was one of the leaders of the Easter Rising in Dublin, Ireland in Easter week 1916. He was also one of the seven signatories of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic. As with the other six men, Mac Diarmada was executed by firing squad by the British in summer 1916. Their deaths made them the founding fathers of the modern Irish state.
