The Seattle Mariners are a Major League Baseball team in the American League Western Division. They are based in Seattle, Washington. The Seattle Mariners began play as an expansion club in 1977. The team replaced a previous Seattle MLB franchise, the Seattle Pilots, which began play in the 1969 season and then moved to Milwaukee to become the Milwaukee Brewers just before the start of the 1970 season.

The Mariners are the only MLB franchise never to make it to the World Series.

The team's park (T-Mobile Park) is an unusual "retractable roof" design as, unlike all others, it does not fully enclose the stadium (due to Seattle's climate, a full enclosure wasn't needed, but its legendary frequent rainfall necessitated a roof).

Playoffs: 4 (1995, 1997, 2000, 2001)

Members of Mariners Hall of Fame:

Alvin Davis (inducted 1997)

Dave Niehaus (broadcaster - inducted 2000)

Jay Buhner (inducted 2004)
