The Senate Minority Leader is the leader of the weaker of the two major political parties in the U.S. Senate, who serves as its chief Senate spokesmen and negotiates scheduling with the Senate Majority Leader. By custom, the Presiding Officer gives the floor leaders priority in obtaining recognition to speak on the floor of the Senate.[1]
