Shooting is the act of discharging a rifle, gun or other projectile weapon.

Sport shooting[edit]
Shooting as a sport or hobby usually means the discharge of a rifle or gun at a designated target on a rifle range.
This can include Skeet shooting as well as target shooting.
Shooting animals[edit]
Shooting animals as targets is known as hunting.

Alternative uses[edit]
The discharge of a weapon-firearm at a person is said to be "a shooting".
- Intentional shooting is likely to be murder, except if done as a judicial act or by legal authority (such as in an act of capital punishment or euthanasia, or by a police or detention officer in the course of their duties.)
- Un-intentional shooting at a person is likely to be called manslaughter.
