Solitary confinement

Solitary confinement is a form of torture used by totalitarian regimes and a form of imprisonment to isolate dangerous criminals by Western civilization.
In the United States, an estimated 80,000 convicted criminals are held in solitary confinement.
History
As one critic explains:
