Solo: A Star Wars Story, or Solo, is the second spinoff Star Wars film, and the fourth Star Wars film to be released by Disney. It was released on May 25, 2018. It was a prequel that delved into the origins of the character Han Solo. It is also rather infamous for being the first box office disaster for the franchise.

Controversy

A week before release, both Donald Glover (the actor who played Lando Calrissian in the film) and Jonathan Kasdan (and to a lesser extent the latter's father, Lawrence Kasdan) claimed that Lando Calrissian was going to be pansexual in the film, having gender fluidity.[1] This imposition of the LGBT agenda and other leftist politics[2] into the Star Wars franchise was most likely one of the contributing factors toward Solo's poor performance at the box office and toward future Star Wars standalone films being put on hiatus for the time being.[3] At least one other contributing factor for the lack of sales also dealt with the controversial reception of The Last Jedi (which pushed leftist views to a far greater extent), and especially how Lucasfilm Ltd. handled the controversy (such as denouncing the fans and conservative critics who denounced the film, claiming them as feeling "threatened" by women among other insulting accusations).
